Gordon Pruitt kept a piece of land in Oregon for thirty years. At sixty-two, with a numbered log kit, a used pickup, and an aging travel trailer, he finally started building. The ground, the water, the deliveries and the weather did not always cooperate. He kept notes anyway.

This journal follows the work in order: getting onto the lot, hauling water, correcting mistakes, placing the logs and closing in the shell before the weather could take another turn.
